Standing With Generation Next

Luke 1:39-48

November 6, 2022

“39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”  46 And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord  47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,  48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant.  From now on all generations will call me blessed,”

“Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” ~
Titus 2:3-5

“Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned…. “~
Titus 2:6-8

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. ~
1 Timothy 4:12

Take aways from the message:

  1. Each generation sees things differently because of their experiences
  2. Like Mary, lean on the previous generations who are further along to gain insight and wisdom.
  3. It is the job of the older generations to help the younger generations gain spiritual understanding.
  4. Older generation recognize how much you have to give.
  5. Younger generations recognize how much you have to learn.
  6. All generations learn to walk in humility.
  7. All three of the generations were affected by the presence of Jesus.
  8. All three of the generations can affect the Kingdom of God if they work together.
