Say Yes And Stop Playing Church

Say Yes & Stop Playing Church

Pastor Tyrone E Barnette  | June 4, 2023

The "Say Yes" series is about how we can use our gifts and abilities to be the Church in our homes, at our jobs and in our church and community.

  • Sermon Notes

“To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.  4 Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. 5 The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels. 6 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Revelation 3:1-6

The Problem v. 1– They are the walking dead.

They have a good reputation with man and not with God.

The Solution- vs 2  They need to Wake up!

vs 3- They need to Remember, Re-do, and Repent.

The Result- vs 4-5  They will receive a spotless reputation on earth and in heaven.

“That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”  Matthew 13:1-9

“The problem is not with the Sower or the seed… it is with the soil.”

    Laws of the Harvest:

    1. We reap much of what we did not sow from others who farmed before us.
    2. We reap the same kind as we sow.
    3. We reap in a different season than when we sow.
    4. We reap proportionately as we sow.
    5. We reap more than we sow.
    6. We reap because God’s grace.
