The Benefits of Forgiveness:

There’s a Physical Benefit.

“A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body, jealousy is like cancer to the bones”. Proverbs 14:30 (NLT)

There’s a Psychological Benefit.

“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.  Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:31-32

There is a Relational Benefit.

“Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends”.  Proverbs 17:9 (NLT)

There’s a Spiritual Benefit.

“But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matt. 6:15

There’s a Kingdom Benefit.

“If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that.  In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.”.  Matthew 5:46-48 (The Message)

Why Forgive?

God has forgiven you.

“Be ready to forgive, never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you MUST forgive others”. Colossians 3:13 (Living Bible)

Unforgiveness makes you sick.

“To worry yourself to death with resentment would be a foolish, senseless thing to do”. Job 5:2 (Good News)

You will need forgiveness again in the future.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy”. Matthew 5:7 (NIV)
