Boundaries Make Me Better

Tyrone Barnette Galatians 6:2-6 & Esther 1:10-12 July 31, 2022

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks

they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. 4 Each one should test their own

actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone

else, 5 for each one should carry their own load.” Galatians 6:2-6

“On the seventh day, when King Xerxes was in high spirits from wine, he commanded the seven

eunuchs who served him—Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar and

Karkas— 11 to bring before him Queen Vashti, wearing her royal crown, in order to display her

beauty to the people and nobles, for she was lovely to look at. 12 But when the attendants

delivered the king’s command, Queen Vashti refused to come. Then the king became furious and

burned with anger”. Esther 1:10-12

Why you need boundaries around your life

A. To Direct you in the right path

B. To Protect you from negative influences

C. To Connect you with the right relationships and resources

D. To Detect and Eject the wrong people from your life

E. To Affect the world and Erect a life that pleases God alone

3 simple rules for setting appropriate boundaries

1. LOVE WITHOUT RESCUING

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ…each one should

carry their own load.” Galatians 6:2, 5

2. CONFRONT WITHOUT COMDEMNATION

“‘If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they

listen to you, you have won them over.’” Matthew 18:15

3. ANSWER “NO” WITHOUT APPREHENSION

“Am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were

still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ” Galatians 1:10
